24-year-old cyclist Rajesh Verma looks like any other labourer who slogs for the entire day to earn a few hundred rupees a day. But Verma is no ordinary men.

In 2007, he was the cynosure of all eyes as he won the gold medal at the Shanghai Special Olympics. At the time when he returned home winning gold medal in Shanghai, ministers had promised to give him residential plots, others promised to give me money but now more than five years have passed, and the sportsman is still running pillar to post to look for a decent job.

Verma is managing a precarious livelihood, working as a labourer to earn his livelihood under MGNREGA in Ladhuwala village in Sadulsahr in Sriganganagar district.

Verma claimed that wherever national and international sports event for special sports persons were held, he had won medals.
