The Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday put stay on the lottery-oriented recruitment of sweepers to be conducted by nagar nigam on Wednesday. It also served notices to local self government department, chief executive officer, nagar nigam and commissioner, department of personnel.
A single judge bench of justice Manish Bhandari acted on the petitions by Jitendra and others. Vimal Chaudhary, advocate, prosecution told the court the petitioners are the contracted employees of the department. Recruitment for 2,877 vacancies has been announced through the lottery system, which is completely against the norms.
The prosecution added there is a provision of employing one person per family in the recruitment process, which is completely wrong. When elite services, including RAS and IAS, don’t have such prohibition, then why is the recruitment restricted to just one appointee from each family. It further stated this restriction is against the Constitution of India.
