The steaming problem of MLSU’s non teaching staff employment has popped up today when 15 people working in MLSU from last several years were fired from their jobs, on the ground of new permanent recruitment on the vacant posts.

More than one hundred people working on several posts including assistants and non teaching staff called for strike. The protesters demand re appointment of terminated employees till new recruitment were done and giving present employees first preference in new appointments.

According to sources, there are 21 posts of LDC, out of which 18 posts are vacant. The association of non teaching staff demands that, administration should withdraw their decision of terminating 15 people till they actually conduct recruitment program.

Bharat Vyas, president of the Union of Non Teaching Staff informed that MLSU has last recruited the staff in 1987, since then no new appointments were done.

The union also demanded that MLSU should first appoint the already existing workers as permanent employees before hiring someone else.

This sudden strike has also disturbed the admission procedures as many students are facing problems in getting forms, submitting it etc.

Dinesh Bhoi, president of student union said that the issue of MLSU staff should not affect the students.

“I will talk to vice chancellor about this and will try to solve students’ problem.”
