The Indian cricket captain’s love for bikes is well documented. And busy as he is, he finds the time to hit the road every once in a while. MS Dhoni’s latest little adventure came on Thursday when he rode his imported machine from Delhi to Jaipur. However, the joyride took a slightly unexpected turn, giving his team mates something to smile and talk about.
Apparently, once he entered the Rajasthan capital, Captain Cool not only switched to a car but strayed on to a wrong lane and was pulled up by a startled but dutiful policeman.
A slip-up against Trinidad & Tobago meant the Chennai Super Kings were hosted by Rajasthan Royals in the Champions League T20 semifinal, and Dhoni — the CSK skipper — grabbed the opportunity to ride to work.
Zipping down from Delhi to Jaipur is not quite like riding from one end of the town to the other; it is close to 265 km, and can test even a seasoned rider.
For this World Cup-winning captain though, his passion overshadowed the fatigue of the previous game and nerves (does he have any?) of a knockout clash.
While he rode his X132 Hellcat, a European brand, the rest of the team took a short flight.
“MSD came down on his bike from Delhi. He loves his bikes and rides them whenever he gets a chance. Once in the city, he shifted to a car as the bike was brought to the hotel,” said a CLT20 official.
Once parked at the team hotel, it wasn’t difficult to figure out who it belonged to. ‘7781’ on the number plate explained the birth date of the wicketkeeper-bat – 07/07/1981.
