Health dept destroy 100kg adulterated sweets

Health Department in Jaipur destroy more than 100 Kg of adulterated sweets before Diwali. Department has strongly checking and campaigning against stale and adulterated food in the Jaipur city.

During Diwali the demand of sweets and other eatable items has been pushed up and health department will continue the campaign on Diwali day. An official said they are ensuring that the customers do not get cheated on by traders, who might be selling stale food items especially stale sweets.

The health department teams continued to take the round of the city and they inspected the sweet shops, dry fruits shops and general stores at different places to check the quality of food being sold.

Chief medical & health officer, Jaipur, Dr O P Thankan said, “We will continue inspecting sweets shops in the city to check the quality of food they are selling.”

The sale of sweets has increased significantly in Jaipur. A sweet shop seller at Shastri Nagar, Mukesh Agarwal said, “The sale of sweets has picked up today and we hope that it will continue for the next four days at least.”

The stale sweets were destroyed at the Polo Victory area, Shastri Nagar, Nahari Ka Naka, Indira Bazaar and these are also some of the areas that were inspected by the health department officials on Saturday.

Among the items that were destroyed were sweets, edible oil and sugar syrup. The officials also took samples of namkeens and dry fruits to check the quality. They said the samples would be sent to laboratories for testing.

The sweets that look colourful are also under the scanner.
