Civil Courts Amendment Bill passed in State

An amendment bill was passed by Rajasthan Assembly related to pecuniary jurisdiction and new nomenclature of civil courts and posts.”The Rajasthan Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill, 2014,” Parliamentary Minister R S Rathor said with new amendments the civil judge would be able to hear cases of property dispute up to Rs two lakh while a senior judge cases up to Rs five lakh.

“More than two decades have passed after last amendment in the Rajasthan Civil Courts Ordinance, 1950 regarding pecuniary jurisdiction. The pecuniary jurisdiction assigned to the civil courts requires a revisit. Also, the present nomenclature of the civil courts or posts requires to be replaced,” Rathore said while stating the objects and reasons of the Bill.

On the demand of Opposition MLAs, the minister said that the government would try to mediate and try to end the ongoing strike of advocates in the state for the last 24 days.
