After the commotion prevails the peace. After nearly a week of heated agitations by police and advocates in Jaipur, the latter on Tuesday resorted to Gandhigiri as a means of protest.
Registering their resentment over police action on them, the lawyers took out a silent protest rally covering their mouths.
The rally was attended by thousands of advocates. Prior to the rally, the members of bar council were seen having a dialogue with the advocates to keep the march ‘peaceful’.
Directions were given to the advocates not to create any scene and also not to cause trouble to the locals.
The rally started from the sessions court at Collectorate Circle.
The silent advocates conveyed their resentment through the banners they were carrying.
The advocates’ rally returned to the Collectorate after reaching Ahimsa Circle.
The rally led to traffic jams at some places along the route.
After the rally concluded at Collectorate, the advocates held a general meeting where they raised slogans against the police and administration.
On Wednesday, the advocates will stage a dharna at Badi Chaupar from 12 pm to 3 pm.
Meanwhile, a memorandum was also forwarded to the President of India, National Human Rights Commission, State Human Rights Commission and Chief Justice of India informing them about the police action on March 6 and 7. On Tuesday also, no judicial work could be conducted in the courts.
