Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) members opposes formation of subordinate and clerical selection board in Jaipur. Formation of the subordinate and clerical selection board may leads to the breaking of commission. The employees said that if the government wanted to categorize the services, then they should open the board on the RPSC premises.

The RPSC employees’ union called the decision of forming selection board as extravagant and unnecessary. They called an urgent meeting to discuss the issue and decided to meet the state government. “The commission is already working properly and therefore there is no need of another selection board in the state,” said Dayakar Sharma, president of the union.

The union said the RPSC in the last four months, conducted different selection examinations, some of which were held in two or three stages, and about 9.60 lakh students appeared. “There was a Rajasthan public service and subordinate examination in which 4.50 lakh candidates appeared. There were even other examinations which RPSC conducted properly,” Dharmendra Kumawat, joint secretary, of the union said.

At present, RPSC has 250 employees to conduct different selection and recruitment examinations and prepare results on time. “The Rajasthan Secondary Education Board which conduct one examination in a year for about 18 lakh to 20 lakh examinees is having about 850 employees,” Sharma said.

The union said that if state government increased the numbers of employees in RPSC, then there will be better results in future and no need of forming another selection board. The union also opposes establishment of such a selection board in Jaipur and said it will have to have new infrastructure but RPSC already has full infrastructure for conducting examinations. They threatened to go on a strike if the government do not take back its decision on the matter.
