Rajasthan Roadways won a national award for their great work for better rural transport services and lower accidental rates. Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) has been given a national award for its outstanding work in the field of rural transport services and for ensuring the minimal rate of accidents during, 2012-13.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Oscar Fernandes gave away the award to RSRTC Managing Director Bhaskar A. Sawant during the 25th Road Safety Week function at New Delhi’s India International Centre on Thursday.
The event was held jointly by Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the International Road Federation.
The “Transport Minister Trophy “and “two lakh” rupee cheque was given as award.
After the award ceremony, Sawant said: “We have been getting this award for the last four consecutive years (2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and now 2012-13) for minimum rate of road accidents.
He said, the bus drivers of Rajasthan Roadways reduced the accident rate constantly on road safety measures.
He said that the RSRTC did outstanding work in the field of rural transport services.
This year, Rajasthan has been included for this award as a ‘state transport undertaking’ having fleet strength 4001-10000. Which is the highest fleet strength in the country after Andhra Pradesh.
