The second edition of ‘Jaipur by Nite‘ concluded on Saturday amid cheering tourists and visiting diplomats who were enthralled by the cultural bonanza.
The objective of the two-day event is to promote Jaipur as a destination for summer and monsoon tourism with a melange of cultural evenings dove-tailed with a wide array of Rajasthani cuisine at the City Palace and Hotel Clarks Amer.
Saturday evening of ‘Jaipur by Nite’ at Hotel Clarks Amer gave the visitors an opportunity to see the live performance of Manganiar singer Samandar Khan. He was followed by popular Bollywood playback singer Shweta Pandit.
Earlier, Kamli Sapera and troupe gave a mesmerizing performance. The visitors also got busy with palmists, potters, tattoo and caricature artists among others during the event. There was also a display of handicraft products by award winning artisans. Paintings on the first day by artists of the state were also on display at the pre-function area of the hotel’s convention centre.
At City Palace, visitors had a gala time witnessing dance troupes rendering the ‘Ganesh Vandana’ and ‘Kesariya Balam’. It was followed a electrifying performance of a 12-member dance team ‘Padanyaas of Bollywood’ from Mumbai. They transported the visitors, through dance and music, to the saga of Bollywood right from the 1950s to the current time. The audience also swayed to some of the Bollywood’s evergreen numbers.
At the Mubarak Mahal of the City Palace, ‘The Best of Rajasthan’ was showcased with activities and performances by Kachhi Ghodi, Shekhawati chang dhap troupe, Bhopa Bhopi, dhol wale, Lac bangles, mehndi wale, parrot card reader, puppet show and magic-show among others.
Ambassadors Nancy Powell (United States), Daniele Mancini (Italy) and Rizali W Indrakesum(Indonesia), a delegate of 15-member from Indonesia and senior officials from the embassies from France, Bangladesh and Singapore witnessed the cultural performances.
The event was organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with Young Indians (YI) and the state department of tourism. The event was also supported by Hotel & Restaurant Association of Rajasthan (HRAR), Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) and Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators (RATO).
