On the occasion of 14th day of Kartik month, thousands of devotees and saints who comes from different parts of the country took a dip in the holy waters of Pushkar Lake. This big bath called as ‘maha snan’ seen a heavy rush since morning at the ghats. Apart from 11 degree Celsius cold water, people took a holy dip as per faith of washing away all sins.
For the occasion, district officials and police went on alert and inspected the fair for arrangements. The major task was to manage the traffic and extra force was deputed to park vehicles in the outskirts of Pushkar.
The interesting event on Saturday was the musical chair race between Indian and foreign tourists in which foreigners won. There was also a rural games meet and prize giving for best camel and buffalo. The district administration also organized cultural evening for the tourists coming to attend the fair.
Meanwhile, tourists attending Pushkar fair are enjoying the fusion of cultures and colours on display here. The markets are filled with villagers, urban and foreign tourists and each group is fascinated by the other. The shilp gram of local artisans is also attracting visitors in large numbers. The crowd this time is more due to the Vishakha Nakshatra in which the sun will enter in the Scorpio sun sign.
