The Rajasthan government has removed Superintendent of Police (SP) of Hanumangarh district from his current posting following his alleged laxity in dealing with a gang-rape case.
Dr Ravi was removed from his post on Saturday and put under APO (awaiting posting order) status, an official spokesperson said.
A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped few days back after which the locals held protest demonstrations demanding arrest of the accused.
They blamed that the police official did not take the case seriously and complained to senior officials of the department about the same. Later, the matter was also brought to the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s attention yesterday, they said.
Meanwhile, police have arrested some of the accused, involved in the case.
