After a fortnight of aggressive rains in Rajasthan, the southwest monsoon has weakened since yesterday in state due to a rise in temperature and change in wind pattern, a MeT official said today.

However, due to local weather system heavy rains occurred in east Rajasthan in Jaipur, Bikaner, Kota and Udaipur divisions with Taranagar in Churu district recording the maximum rainfall of 7 cms till 8:30 AM today, B N Vishnoi, the state MeT director told PTI here.

Northwest areas of Rajasthan covering Jodhpur, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, and Sirohi districts received no rainfall in the last 24 hours, he said.

Meanwhile, Sardarshahar recorded 6 cm rainfall followed by Fatehpur and Dantaramgarh 4 cms each, Gangapur and Kotkasim 3 cms each, Asnawar and Bayan 2 each, Chabra, Kekri, and Chouti Sadari one cm each.

Jaipur experienced drizzles in some parts in the morning, the official said.

The southwest monsoon was fading out for some time or getting a break due to rise in temperature and wind direction, and it may revive later this month, Vishnoi predicted.

Due to local weather systems, light to moderate rains may occur in parts of east Rajasthan in next 24 hours, a forecast said.
