The south west monsoon progressed towards northern Rajasthan on Monday where mild to moderate showers were witnessed. Since its onset, rainfall has been steady in the southern and eastern parts of the state. Raniwada in Jalore district of the state recorded the maximum rainfall in the state as it recorded a rainfall of 90 mm.
Jaipurities woke up amid a pleasant morning but was followed by hot and humid conditions in the afternoon as the city recorded a maximum temperature of 37 degrees celsius and a humidity of 88%. However, rain in the evening ushered in a pleasant change. They city received 18mm rainfall till 8.30 pm. Maximum rainfall was witnessed in the southern parts of Jaipur including Mansarover, Sanganer, JLN marg, Malviya Nagar, Tonk road and Jagatpura. However, in the rest of the city mild to moderate showers were witnessed. Despite that with the showers mercury took a downward swing in the evening as a dip of 3 degree celsius was reported. In its forecast the Jaipur met office said that moderate showers would be witnessed in the city in the next 24 hours.
In the evening youngsters were seeking freaking out and making the best of the rain. Heavy rush was witnessed at Jal Mahal where Jaipurities.
Raniwada (Jalore) was followed by Kathumer(Alwar) that recroded a rainfall of 80 mm, Govindgarh and Sapau(Dholpur) 50 mm, Ramgarh(Alwar) and Dholpur 40 mm each. Likewise, rainfall between 20 to 10 mm of rainfall was recorded at many places in the northern districts of the state.
However, the western Rajasthan was yet to witness monsoon rainfall due to which the heat wave conditions continued. Jaisalmer remained hottest in the state recorded a maximum temperature of 39.2 degree celsius, Bikaner 39.0, Barmer 37.8, Chittorgarh 36.6, Churu 36.3, Ajmer 36.2, Kota 33.8, Udaipur 33.5 and Pilani recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2 degree celsius.
In its forecast the met office said that the south west monsoon will gain momentum in the next 48 hours when moderate rainfall would be witnessed in the northern and eastern parts of the state. In the rest of the state the weather would mainly remain dry.
