SMS Hospital now turn its eyes to state government for allotment of land to open a cancer care center after turning down of request from Rajasthan University.

With patients coming to the hospital in increased numbers after the launch of free medicines and free diagnostic test schemes, the hospital administration needs more land for expansion. They plan to construct a building for the cancer care center and other facilities.

“If there is any other piece of government land available in close proximity to the hospital, it will solve our purpose and will be beneficial to the patients,” said Dr Virendra Singh, superintendent, SMS Hospital.

The hospital administration had identified bungalow no 23 in the premises of Maharani College for the construction of Cancer Care Center. But, RU’s syndicate decided not to give the land to the hospital. The syndicate had expressed that in bungalow 23 the college is holding classes as the number of classrooms are not sufficient.

The hospital plans to increase the number of cottage wards from 79 to 200. The hospital administration said they have received sanction from the state government regarding the construction of the wards in the hospital and they will soon start the work.

Since, more land is required for the construction of wards, the hospital administration has vacated 30 quarters and has shifted isolation ward, TB clinic and a bank from that area.

Moreover, the hospital claimed that a trauma center in front of the hospital and a new neurosurgery ward will soon be opened. Plus, the recruitment of 700 nursing staff members is in its final stages. They will soon join duties but on temporary basis.
