The police arrested five persons, including two women, on Saturday allegedly involved in flesh trade in the city. The arrests were made from a flat in Jhotwara area. A case has been registered against them at Jhotwara police station. The flat where prostitution was being carried out belongs to one of the accused who deals in finance.
Police said they got information that prostitution was being carried out at a flat in Tara Nagar under Jhotwara police station area. “On receiving information, we laid a trap. An official was sent to the flat who posed as a customer,” police said. He reached the flat and struck a deal for Rs1,000.
“After the deal was struck, the official gave us a signal. A team raided the premises and arrested two women and three men,” said police.
The police identified the men as Vinay Kumar Gupta (30), a resident of Chand Bihari Nagar; Vikas Maheshwari (31), a resident of Vidhyadhar Nagar; and Vivek Verma (30), a resident of Krishna Nagar near Lal Kothi. Vinay Gupta is also a small-time financier. The flat which was raided is owned by him.
The women were identified as Jyoti Dhakad (23), a resident of Jyoti Nagar on Niwaru Road, and Madhu Singh (21).
Police revealed that Jyoti is married. The women were brought a few days back. “We have registered a case against them. Further investigation in the matter is going on,” said a police official.
