One of India’s major power company Reliance Power Ltd. (Mumbai) has plans to commission a 100 MW concentrating solar power (CSP) project in Rajasthan during the first three months of 2014.
India awarded seven CSP projects totaling 470 MW through phase 1, batch 1 of the nation’s National Solar Mission. However, to date only one has been completed, Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd.’s (Chhatisgarh, India) 50 MW plant in Rajasthan.
The other six are far behind schedule. However, Mercom Capital LLC (Austin, Texas, U.S.) has predicted that all 420 MW will be commissioned in 2014.
Reliance Power also owns a 40 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Rajasthan, which it says has operated at a PLF of 20% from July through September 2013.
