World famous Jaipur Palace Hotel ‘Rambagh Palace‘ has proudly achieved Gold Certification (January 2014) in recognition to its environment and community friendly activities.
This certification, informed General Manager Manish Gupta, is from EarthCheck, which is the world’s leading Environmental Benchmarking and Certification Program for the travel and tourism sector.
The gold certification is the result of some sustained initiatives of the luxury hotel by way of installing 2.1 mw wind turbine at Jaisalmer which caters to 70 per cent of the hotel’s power consumption. Furthermore, 18 water harvesting structures are in the premises of the hotel and recycled water is used for gardening. Energy efficient pumps have been installed and variable drives are being used for AHU (Air Handling Unit) and TFA’s (Total Fresh Air).
The hotel uses only bio-degradable chemicals and the spa of only organic products. Similarly, the wet garbage is sent for composting while the dry garbage (plastic, glass, scrap metal, paper, etc) is recycled.
What is more, the used oil from kitchen and engineering operations is sent for recycling through authorised agency of the State Pollution Control Board.
To achieve the gold certification, the hotel has to benchmark its operational performance under the EarthCheck standards and have this validated by an independent third party auditor.
The palace actively supports the local artistes by employing their services in various entertainment programs. Rambagh Palace has also adopted an orphanage here in Jaipur.
In 2008, Rambagh Palace was successfully benchmarked for its environmental parameters which included energy and water conservation and its corporate social responsibility activities.
