This year Rajasthan University is surprised by the steep rise of 1 lakh student writing annual examination. University administration will have to rethink its preparedness to conduct the exams after the completion of online filling of examination forms.
Last year about 9.5 lakh students, from 1,137 colleges affiliated to the University of Rajasthan, appeared for the annual exams.
University administration had completed online filling of exam form on December 16 and instructed the affiliated colleges to submit hard copies of the exam forms by December 19.
Sources said that more than 12.5 lakh exam forms have been generated through its online medium. Out of these, the varsity administration expects that about 2 lakh forms could be falsely generated and overall number of student appearing for the exams this time should be about 10.5 lakh as many students fill more than one form, but submit only one copy.
Conducting exams for such a huge number of students is going to be a tough task.
The rise in number of students is expected to affect the preparations of university administration for conducting the exams, as the number of copies required would also be increase by 5 lakh.
Last year, approximate 65 lakh exam answer sheets were used by students. This year, the administration is going to acquire about 70 lakh copies through contract.
“Earlier, we had expected that the number of copies required for the exam would remain nearly the same as last year. But the increase in number of students has forced us to reassess our preparedness. We had estimated a budget of Rs3 crore for purchasing and printing of copies.
Now, we would increase this estimate by another crore of Rupees,” said OP Gupta, registrar of university, while talking with dna.
Each exam copy would cost Rs6 to the university administration and overall it could cost more than 4 crore. Till now, fee received on the behalf of exam process from student is over Rs90 crore.
