A Rajasthan Roadways conductor reportedly consumed poison along with his wife and a daughter before slitting the throat of his minor son at a secluded place at Gautam Nagar on Banswara road of Pratapgarh district early on Tuesday morning. The conductor and his son died while his wife and daughter have been admitted to a hospital in Udaipur in a critical condition, said the police.
According to the police, Vinod Bhatnagar, 42, a conductor with Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation in Banswara and his son Varun, 10, died after consuming poison. The police are investigating the causes behind the incident as no suicide note was recovered from the deceased.
Circle inspector Dalpat Singh Bhati said the police got information about four persons lying unconscious near a petrol pump at about 8 am.
He said Bhatnagar and his son had died on the spot while his wife Pratibha, 40, and daughter Pari, 6, were rushed to a hospital. The family had reached Pratapgarh in a bus on Monday night.
The police said Bhatnagar lived in a rented accommodation along with family at Bahubali Nagar of Banswara. He had availed l eave on Monday.
The police questioned Pari who said they had gone to Sitamata fair and on returning, her father gave a drink to everyone after consuming which she fell unconscious.
The police also recovered a packet of blades from the spot. A blade was smeared in blood which the police believe he used to slit the throat of his son.
