In a 15-year-old case, a lower court in Jaipur sentenced Rajasthan Minister of State for Health Rajkumar Sharma and a suspended sitting BJP legislator to three years in jail for an offence committed as student union leaders.
Dr Rajkumar Sharma has been handed out the sentence for obstructing a government servant from discharging his duties. Hanuman Beniwal, MLA, and student leader Vijya Dehuda were also sentenced to a similar term for the same offence. All three were granted bail. The case was registered in 1997 when Dr Rajkumar Sharma was the president of the Rajasthan university students union.
He was accused of obstructing a police force in front of the College. He was also accused of misbehaving with the police officials .
