With an aim to bring down the total fertility rate and to stabilize population, the health department has launched a campaign – Chota Pariwar Sukhi Parivar – in the state.
The department officials said it would be a 14-day campaign to spread awareness on the need for population stabilization. They would organize various programmes, including ‘nukkad nataks’ in which folk artists would be roped in to create awareness about the benefit of small families.
The officials further said they are putting in efforts to bridge the gap between unmet need of contraceptives and other family planning methods in rural areas. Along with the awareness on population stabilization, they would also encourage people to adopt family planning measures.
The official added that they have launched the campaign on World Population Day and will continue for 15 days, including the day of launch.
