Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva today administered an oath to the people as part of the ‘One Billion Rising’ campaign, asking them not to be prejudiced against women or support violent conduct.
She administered the public oath at a gathering which was attended by a large number of school and college students, teachers and employees of various organisations, at Udyog Maidan.
Ms Alva called upon the people to ensure that women are empowered and pledge commitment to put an end to violence against them.
Jaipur Mayor Jyoti Khandelwal, chairperson of the State Commission for Women Ladkumari Jain, activist Aruna Roy and others were present during the programme, part of the global campaign against sexual abuse.
