Rajasthan Cricket Association president result declaration may be be delayed further.
The Supreme Court had declared on January 6 that the sealed envelope containing the results of the RCA elections would be opened on Friday (January 17).
However, sources informed TOI that due to the absence of a senior counsel, the RCA would be asking for an adjournment.
“There might be some arguments, but the Supreme Court is expected to accept the request for an adjournment,” the source said.
January 24 could be the fresh date for the opening of the envelope, which has become a very crucial event. It could well be the opening of the Pandora’s Box. Modi is expected to have won the elections by an overwhelming majority.
Once Modi becomes the ‘official’ winner, the SC will hear the BCCI’s plea against his election. The BCCI has moved court against Modi’s right to contest the elections as he was banned for life by the country’s premier cricket body.
However, the Rajasthan Sports Act, under which the elections were held, does not recognize the ban.
The SC had indicated that it will hear BCCI’s plea only if Modi wins the elections.
