Rajasthan Congress filed a complaint with Election Commission against a poll survey by AC Nielsen-ABP News showing BJP victory in the state. Congress made allegation of showing “paid news” to favour opposition BJP, and demanded that the expenses incurred on it be debited from its account.
Congress’ chairman of law and poll management committee Sushil Sharma alleged that the opinion poll was a violation of the Model Code of Conduct, and it was done to favour the BJP.
“It should be considered as paid news and the expenditure incurred on it should be debited from BJP’s account,” he said.
Congress has also demanded a ban on publication and circulation of such surveys, and sought legal action against the News channel, he said.
Yesterday, the TV channel had aired the survey predicting BJP’s win with 105 seats while Congress was projected to get 75 seats in the December 1 polls.
