The Rajasthan government has decided to grant relaxation in the two-child policy applicable to state government employees.
During a recently concluded cabinet meeting, the government decided that in case of a remarriage, a government employee already having two children from a previous marriage will now be allowed to have a third child with the new spouse. Also, twins or triplets in such remarriages will be counted as one unit.
Rajasthan had adopted the two-child policy since June, 2001, barring its employees from having a third child. “There would be no new job for a person having more than two kids, nor any promotion to such employees who prefer a third kid after June 1, 2002,” the government had said in an earlier statement.
The relaxation will be applicable to serving state employees as well as new recruits. The Rajasthan Services Rules will be appropriately amended for the purpose.
