Rajasthan government will run a special campaign from September 28 to October 2 to check rules violation and spread awareness about road safety.

Transport Minister Yunus Khan said that transport, police, medical and health department will run the joint campaign in the state.

"Teams of police and transport departments will check licences, permits and other documents of vehicles and drivers and medical department's team will check eyesight of elderly drivers," he said.

“If an incompetent person is found driving, necessary action will be taken against him. Processes to cancel licence will also be initiated,” Khan told reporters after chairing a meeting of officials for the preparations of the campaign.

He said that on the last day of the campaign on October 2, public representatives from Chief Minister to Panch will be participating in the campaign at different Panchayats.

Public Works department will also repair roads and blind turns in main areas during the campaign.

The Minister said that the government as per its budget announcement has started the process for issuing permit to private operators for nationalised routes where RSRTC buses are already plying.

He said that the fare of both the services of RSRTC and Rajasthan Public Transport Service will remain similar and the private operators will be regularly monitored by the transport department officials.

“With this, people will get two transport services on nationalised routes. One by the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation and the other by private service called Rajasthan Public Transport service,” he said.
