Monsoon affected normal life in parts of Rajasthan as heavy rains lashed isolated areas and light to moderate rainfall occurred in many places.Four days of heavy rain in Jaipur district wrecked havoc in the region, leaving several low lying areas even in the State Capital submerged.
The Rajasthan government on Sunday sought help from the Army to rescue people in Chaksu tehsil in Raipur district following torrential rain that flooded close to 100 villages.
However, the worst affected was Chaksu, where several villages were cut off from the rest of the State after being submerged due to breaches in anicuts. Kotkhwada village was inundated with 4-feet-deep water.
While the local administration and the State Disaster and Relief Force personnel shifted villagers to safer places and temporary relief camps, Army was requisitioned later in the afternoon to help in the operations, led by District Collector Krishna Kunal. Four trucks carrying 70 Army jawans were expected to reach Chaksu by late night.
