A tight security cordon has been thrown in this holy city on the eve of President Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to the famous Ajmer Sharif dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti on Tuesday.

All 23 CCTV cameras installed around the holy shrine are being checked, and a huge shamiana is being erected to protect the VVIP from rain and heat.

The local administration has asked the Dargah Committee to arrange raincoats, as use of umbrellas at the dargah is religiously prohibited.

More than 3,000 policemen will guard the security ring around the holy shrine. The VVIP will be provided three-ringed security cover.

There are seven gates through which the pilgrims can enter the shrine. Five of them have metal detectors, while two gates have x-ray machines. All the gates are manned by Rajasthan Armed Police and state police, including women constables and security men in plain clothes.
