President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday visited the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and prayed for peace and harmony. He offered a chadar and flowers at the shrine and spent more than 10 minutes praying.
Mukherjee came to Ajmer after attending the convocation at Central University, Rajasthan, located at Kishangarh. He entered the dargah from the Nizam gate where the diwan, members of anjuman committee and dargah committee gave a red carpet welcome to him.
He was taken around the dargah while the diwan gave details about the architecture of the famous shrine. The President signed in the visitors book.
Tight security measures were taken at the dargah for the President’s visit and entire area around the dargah was cordoned off and more than 3,000 policemen were present.
