PM Manmohan Singh directed National Transport minitry to pace up work of Delhi-Jaipur Expressway. On Tuesday PM set a deadline for the completion of the construction of the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway.
Reviewing the progress of the project, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to award the first Expressway in the country by September.
The spadework like signing of state support agreement with Rajasthan had to be completed by February 28 and so must the cabinet note for in-principle approval for the project.
The MoRTH has estimated an investment of Rs. 9,460 for executing the 272 km long expressway to be constructed parallel to the national highway. Land acquisition and other pre-construction activities are like to cost an additional Rs. 2,290 crore for a total investment of Rs. 11,750 crore.
The ministry in its presentation maintained it had examined multiple financing options and would opt for the most viable one. Should the model succeed the same would be adopted for other proposed expressways.
