Out of 239 Candidates who have filled their nominations from Rajasthan for LS election polls there are only 17 women candidates out of which 6 are from Congress Party while BJP has given ticket to only one women candidate.

It appears that campaigns to provide 33% reservation of seats to women in Parliament is a mere eye wash.BJP has given ticket to only one woman – Santosh Ahalawat – while the women Congress are Girija Vyas (Chittorgarh), Resham Malviya (Banswara), Raj Bala Ola (Jhunjhunu), Munni Devi Godara (Pali) and Chandresh Kanwar(Jodhpur).

In BJP though there are though whispers among the party workers but none of them have made it an issue. “We had expected much more participation from the women in Parliament from Rajasthan from our party. However, the party high command found only Santosh Ahalawat a strong candidate for Jhunjhunu seat,” said a woman worker at the BJP party office here.
