Sonia Gandhi was here and it was expected all efforts will be made to woo female voters keeping an eye on the forthcoming assembly elections. In her presence, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot announced 30 percent concession to women in the roadways bus fare.  State government will have to extend financial help of one hundred crores to the roadways to make up for the loss in revenue. Sonia Gandhi also laid foundation stones for two mega projects in Ganganagar and Nagaur districts.

Foundation stone for 600 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Station was laid at Suratgarh in Ganganagar district.  Drinking water supply project was also launched. This project will cater the needs of around 23 lakh population in six towns and around 890 surrounding villages in Nagaur district.

Sonia praised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and Ashok Gehlot for the good work they have done over the years.

We are doing good work that will help all, but the opposition keeps creating obstacles in our path, said Sonia Gandhi.

BJP leader Vasundhara Raje alleged that this is just an effort to divert attention from the women security issue in the state. “Bus fare concession is fine, but the real issue is women safety, but this government has nothing to say on that,” she alleged.
