You can ditch the tiresome journey to popular tourist and business towns in state and opt for a flight, instead. As many as half-a-dozen new airports are either proposed or nearing completion in Rajasthan.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has revealed its plans to open an airport at Sawai Madhopur, home to the big cats. A team of AAI will visit Sawai Madhopur to find the possibilities of flight operation from this part of the state. Officials said that the upcoming airport in Jaisalmer will begin by October this year.
“A team of AAI officials would visit and find out the possibilities of setting up an airport at Sawai Madhopur. The airport at Jaisalmer will be ready by August and flight operations can start from October itself,” Chairman of Airport Authority of India, VP Agarwal told reporters after a meeting with chief secretary CK Mathew on Tuesday. The construction work of airport in Bikaner is also on the verge of completion.
“We have given a suggestion to the state government to offer tax benefits by making fuel cheaper for the airlines which are coming to India if they touch two places in Rajasthan,” Agarwal said. If the state government accepts this proposal, the foreign tourist landing in Delhi other northern states may be diverted to Rajasthan. These cities feature prominently on the tourist map of India. With airports coming into operation, tourists can now just hop onto a flight and arrive at any of these places.
“The construction work of proposed airport in Kishangarh will start by July; all issues have been settled and work will start in July for construction of airport at Kishangarh,” said Agarwal.
AAI has given a suggestion to the state government to offer tax benefit to the airlines if they connect two places in Rajasthan in a bid to motivate international airlines to make an entry in state.
