The cavalcade of former minister and independent MLA Golma Devi was attacked at Kamleshwar Mahadev area of Pratapgarh district on Saturday night. Some miscreants pelted stones on vehicles in the cavalcade after a public meeting.
The vehicle in which Devi was travelling along with some other women was also damaged while some people sustained injuries, the police said. The police have arrested two persons in this connection. Devi is carrying out a Vijay Sankalp yatra for ouster of both the Congress and the BJP. Her associates said she addressed a public meeting at 10 pm and was on her way for night halt at Kamleshwar Mahadev when some youths threw empty beer bottles on the vehicles.
“We decided not to stay there for the night and tried to move on. But the road some distance away was blocked with stones. A driver went to clear the road when stone pelting started from a hillock,” said a person associated with the rally management.
