After Friday afternoon witnessed city’s lowest temperature at daytime, cold northerly winds in no mood to brought any relief.

While the night temperature in the city went slightly up, the day temperature was recorded below 20 degrees Celsius for the first time. The city recorded 19.2 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, which was four degrees below the normal notch. But the night was less cold as the mercury level went up to 12.2 degrees Celsius, which was four degrees above the normal night temperature.

Attributing the dip in temperature to northerly winds, the Met office said, the temperature is likely to decrease further as they predicted that there is a possibility of rain at several places in the state. “Thunderstorm with rain may occur at isolated places in east Rajasthan,” the Met department official said.

In Jaipur, the roadside tea stalls had a busy day with people enjoying cups of tea when the sun kept playing hide and seek with clouds. The denizens also witnessed a slight drizzle.

Besides this, the Met department predicted that sky would remain partly cloudy and light rain may occur. The maximum and minimum temperatures will likely be around 21 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius in the city.

Met department’s low temperature warning will continue till Saturday as they claimed that the night temperatures are likely to be recorded at 4 degrees Celsius or less, accompanied by ground frost at isolated places in north Rajasthan.

Churu and Sriganganagar were the coldest places in the state as they recorded the minimum temperature at 2.1 degrees Celsius. Apart from northern Rajasthan, western Rajasthan also witnessed an intensified cold. In Bikaner, minimum temperature recorded at 7.2 degrees, Jaisalmer 4.6 and Barmer 9 degrees Celsius. On Friday, isolated places in Kota also experienced a drizzle.
