Cold wave strikes in almost every part of the state on Sunday. Normal life is affected by fog and mist in most of the state except in Udaipur and Kota. Mount Abu in hills while Jalore in plains remained coldest in the state and recorded a minimum temperature of 0 and 5.8 degrees Celsius respectively.

In its forecast, the Met department said mild to moderate showers are likely to be witnessed in the northern and eastern parts of the state in the next 24 hours. The possibility of ground frost and mild showers will further dip the mercury in the next 48 hours.

The foggy conditions continued till 11am at almost every part of the state except some in northern Rajasthan.

It was yet another chilly morning for the city as the recorded minimum temperature was 11.5 degrees Celsius. It was followed by a shivering afternoon with a minimum temperature of 21.4 degrees Celsius, almost 3 degrees below the normal notch. Due to the cold breeze many city markets and roads were deserted. Still, many people were found drinking coffee and eating at places including Raja park, M I Road and Gaurav Towers. People residing in the Raien Basera and street dwellers were seen camping near bonfire.

Attributing these low temperatures to the active north easterly winds and upper air cyclonic circulation, the Met office said the day temperatures will continue to fall especially in the northern and eastern parts of the state.

Mount Abu and Jalore were followed by Udaipur that recorded a minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer 7.3, Ajmer 7.9, Barmer and Bikaner 8.6 each, Kota 9.6, Jodhpur 10.4, Sriganganagar 11.3, Pilani 11.5 and Churu recorded a minimum temperature of 11.7 degrees Celsius.
