CM Vasundhara Raje making shuffling of bureaucrats for third time appoints Krishna Kunal, new district collector of Jaipur.
He would replace incumbent T Ravikant, who has now been appointed as chief minister’s secretary-II. Kunal was serving as commissioner of settlement at Jaipur so far. Four days ago, the chief minister changed Jaipur’s commissioner of police by bringing in Janga Srinivas Rao to head the commissionerate. Kunal had landed in controversy during the Ashok Gehlot government over the infamous Gopalgarh police firing incident of Bharatpur district in September 2011.
He was then the district collector of Bharatpur and was suspended by Gehlot government for his alleged failure in tackling the communal violence. Bharatpur’s then superintendent of police (SP) Hinglaj Dan too was suspended under the same charge. Both the officers later won a legal battle against the state government and got reinstated into the services with a Central Administrative Tribunal’s order.
Like Kunal, Dan has been assigned important field posting under Raje government. He was appointed deputy commissioner of police with Jodhpur Commissionerate on January 7. Another police officer who landed in controversy during Gehlot’s tenure, Pankaj Kumar Chaudhary who hit the headlines in August last year for reopening the history-sheet of Congress MLA Saleh Mohammad’s octogenarian father was appointed the district SP of Bundi this week.
The other collectors changed on Thursday included those of Nagaur, Bhilwara and Bharatpur districts. Vikas Sitaramji Bhale has been removed as Nagaur collector and appointed director of secondary education department at Bikaner. Bhale too hit headlines for the wrong reasons under the previous government during his tenure as district collector of Udaipur. He had then permitted a film shooting at the Collectorate premises which ultimately led to an ugly spat between the then district SP Hariprasad Sharma and actor-director Pooja Bhatt.
Vina Pradhan, who was director of the secondary education department, Bikaner, would the new district collector of Nagaur. Onkar Singh has been moved out as Bhilwara collector and made a special secretary with the state planning department. Singh would be replaced by Ravi Kumar Surpur, who was currently additional mission director with the national health mission at medical and health department, Jaipur.
Giriraj Singh Kushwaha, who was a special secretary with the state planning department, has now been appointed collector of Bharatpur district, which has remained a sensitive ground for communal violence and Gujjar agitations. Raje appointed Biju George Joseph as district SP there early this week. Incumbent Bharatpur collector Neeraj K Pawan, believed to be close to former chief minister Gehlot, has been sent to medical and health department.
