After a two-day lull, the south west monsoon revived in the state on Saturday as mild to moderate showers were witnessed in most places except western Rajasthan. Malsisar in Jhunjhunu district recorded 130 mm rain, the heaviest in the state.

According to Met office, heavy to very heavy rain will occur at isolated places in eastern Rajasthan in the next two days. The monsoon will gain more momentum in the coming days, the Met said.

Jaipurities woke up to overcast conditions as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, almost two degrees below the normal notch.

In the wee hours, mild showers occurred and the weather remained pleasant. Later in the noon, every part of the city received drizzle and till 11 pm, it recorded 12.5 mm rain. Since it drizzled throughout the day, experts said that such rain always proves good for groundwater recharge.

Meanwhile, outskirts of Jaipur received heavy rain including Amber, Kotputli, Viratnagar and Bassi. Light to moderate rain occurred at many places in Kota, Jhalawar, Baran, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur and other parts of the state.

“Torrential or heavy rain result in water logging. However, drizzles, if continue for 2 to 3 hours, helps in recharging the ground water level. On Saturday, the drizzles continued for almost 4 hours till the late evening,” said an officer with the Met office.

Malsisar was followed by Sangod (Kota) that recorded 100 mm rain, Malakhera(Alwar) and Anta(Baran) 90 mm, Bassi(Jaipur) and Mandawar(Dausa 80 mm, Ramgarh (Alwar), Samrathpura (Sikar) and Rajgarh (Churu) 70 mm, Viratnagar (Jaipur), Vair (Bharatpur), Baswa (Alwar) 60 mm, Amber (Jaipur), Alwar, Jamwaramgarh (Jaipur), Rajgarh (Alwar) and Kotputli (Jaipur) 50 mm.
