The Jaipur-Delhi double-decker will halt at Alwar from April 18. This will continue for six months on an experimental basis. This was the outcome of political intervention after local BJP leaders pursued the matter with Congress MP Jeetendra Singh.
North Western Railways (NWR) were instructed by the rail board on Wednesday. Officials said since it the outcome of political intervention, Dausa MP Kirori Lal Meena or other public representatives might ask for more halts for this train.
People of Alwar have welcomed the move and thanked local MLA and minister of state for defence Bhanwar Jeetendra Singh, however, passengers travelling on this route criticised the decision and apprehended extra political interference might play spoilsport in the smooth opertions of the train in future.
Local BJP leaders were demanding this halt ever since the train was flagged off. Almost a week ago local BJP MLA, Banwari Lal Singhal had urged Alwar MP Bhanwar Jeetendra Singh to ensure that the train halted at Alwar from April 20. “He had said if Singh failed to do so, he would plead with the Union minister,” said a BJP worker.
Tarun Jain, chief public relations officer, NWR, said, “This was a long pending demand of the people of Alwar. The will not affect the train’s timings to reach Delhi and Jaipur.”
