Two Grammy winners will be the main attraction of this year's Jodhpur Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF), which will begin here at the Mehrangarh Fort on October 23.
In two different programs titles as RIFF Rustle and African Sojurn 1991 Grammy winner Yosi Fine, one of the world's foremost bassist will lead this year's moonlit jam at Club Mehran with Rajasthan musicians and 2015 Grammy winner Wouter Kellerman will bring an amazing combination of traditional and classical compositions on the Main Stage at the fort respectively.
“This year’s Jodhpur RIFF, which is the ninth edition, to be held from October 23 to 27, will turn Mehrangarh Fort into a centre of cultural dialogue through music, narrations, dance forms and talks with musicians and performers converging from across Rajasthan, Brazil, Finland, Ghana, Israel, Scotland, South Africa, Spain and India,” said the Director (Mehrangarh Museum Trust) Karni Singh Jasol.
Erstwhile ruler and patron of the festival Gaj Singh II said, “As we step into our 9th year, we are happy to note that Jodhpur RIFF continues to be recognised as the best place to experience a heady mix of rustic Rajasthani riffs, contemporary arrangements and global rhythms.
Festival Director, Divya Bhatia added that they are receiving invitations increasingly from country and abroad to present Rajasthani musicians.
“Most recently of them are from in Spain, UK, Australia, Germany, France and South Africa,” he said, adding that Jodhpur RIFF is now recognised and acknowledged at forums such as CELTIC CONNECTIONS (2014, 2015 – Scotland), WOMEX (2014 – Spain), MOSHITO (2015 – South Africa).
