Rajasthan Police senior officer and Director General (Jail) Omendra Bharadwaj in Jaipur on Tuesday took charge as the Director General of Police of poll-bound Rajasthan. Earlier DGP H C Meena went on leave till December 13th.
This was announced here by a police spokesperson. Bharadwaj, who was asked to take charge yesterday, held meetings with senior officers of the department.
Meena, whose removal was demanded by opposition BJP, had went on leave yesterday and will resume work after Assembly elections in the state. The DGP will be on leave till December 13 and resume office on 16th of the month.
Opposition BJP had demanded removal of Meena before the Assembly elections, slated for December 1. Earlier, Chief Secretary C K Mathew had also gone on a 58-day leave on October 16, a day after he was accused by the main opposition party of working in favour of the state government.
