On Wednesday, the judicial custody of Asaram Bapu ends. Arrested for sexually assaulting a minor girl, spiritual guru Asaram Bapu has been booked under Sections 376, 342, 506 and 509 of the IPC, Section 8 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and Sections 23 and 26 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Now Rajasthan police will submit a chargesheet against the self-styled godman in Jodhpur sessions court today.
The 72-year-old Asaram, lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail since September 01, was on October 26 presented before court of the district and sessions judge (Jodhpur rural), which passed the order.
A 16-year-old girl on August 20 lodged a police complaint, accusing Asaram of sexually assaulting her at his ashram near Jodhpur.
Asaram was arrested from his ashram in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and brought to Jodhpur on September 01.
Immediately after his arrest, Asaram filed an application for bail in the same court, which rejected the plea on September 04.
