A Constable was shot dead and an ASI injured allegedly by a group of unidentified persons, when a police team went to a village of Dholpur district to arrest a man wanted in a criminal case.
Rajendra Singh, 30, was shot dead in the incident, police said. According to police, a team led by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Suresh Kumar went to Jaitpur village under Dihori police station of Dholpur to arrest a person in connection with a criminal case.
When the villagers came to know about the raid, they attacked the police party, police said. The Constable was shot dead, whereas the ASI was attacked with sharp edged weapons and wooden sticks, they said.
The ASI was admitted to Dholpur district hospital, where his condition was stated as stable. Meanwhile, additional police force and senior police officials rushed to the village. Efforts were being made to arrest the people involved in the incident, police said.
