Chief minister Ashok Gehlot laid the foundation stone of ‘Paryatan Bhawan’ in the premises of Khasa Kothi on Thursday. On the occasion CM urged to proactively market the tourism potential of the state.
The tourism department is building a state-of-art complex at cost of Rs 10 crore with all the modern facilities. “Rajasthan should proactively market its tourism potential, which is immense in terms of its forts and palaces, wildlife sanctuaries and even a hill station in the form of Mount Abu,” said Gehlot.
Pointing out the importance of both domestic and foreign tourists, Gehlot urged the department not to lose focus on their marketing efforts to attract both national and international tourists. “Avenues should also be created for attracting low-budget tourists,” he added.
Gehlot also appealed to the people of Rajasthan to develop a traveller’s mindset and explore not only different parts of Rajasthan but other parts of the country as well and even abroad. He said while travelling one not only enriches one’s knowledge but also experiences different kinds of lifestyle.
To promote tourism in the state, the department has undertaken several projects in the recent past. It is developing SMS Town Hall as interactive museum which will be ready soon. With construction of Ghat Ki Ghuni tunnel the heritage buildings received fresh lease of life. The department has plans to develop the area as market night shopping in coming days.
