Centre for Dalit Rights (CDR) or Dalit Manvadhikar Kendra Samiti released a listing of 25 hypersensitive Vishan Sabha areas in Rajasthan. Previously Election Commission also declared its list of sensitive districts in the state.
The CDR has also expressed anxiety over problems of dalits facing problems in the upcoming assembly elections in voting. CDR chief patron P L Mimroth said, “There are some areas where we feel that there are chances of dalits not being allowed to come out of their houses and some other persons cast vote impersonating the dalits by influential candidates.”
The centre has pointed out 35 sensitive constituencies in seven districts. The identified constituencies in Ajmer are Kekari, Beawar, Masuda, Kishangarh and Pushkar. Sapotra, Karauli, Toda Bhim, Hindaun Vidhan Sabha constituencies in Karauli district, Nagar, Vair, Kumher, Bharatpur constituencies in Bharatpur district. The other districts which are identified are Dausa, Jalore, Sawai Madhopur and Alwar.
Overall, 633 villages in the seven districts have been identified as sensitive by CDR.
To deal with the situation, the CDR has constituted a control room to register calls from the state about polling-related problems. “In the past too, we received such complaints about polling. Our control room will receive complaints and with the help of police and the election commission, we will put our efforts to deal with such complaints,” Mimroth said.
In Alwar, the constituencies identified as sensitive by CDR are Mundawar, Laxmangarh, Kathumar, Alwar rural, Rajgarh, Kishangarh Bas and Thanagazi.
Mimroth said even the EC has identified Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur as sensitive districts.
The CDR has demanded that sufficient number of police officials should be deputed so that free and fair elections will held in the state.
In the last 2008 assembly elections, 193 companies of paramilitary forces were deputed but this year, it has been increased to 509 companies.
