Diwali and Dhanteras festival has given the thrust to all the consumer based industries. Jaipur’s automobile sector has also benefited from this festive season of Diwali and Dhanteras. Major car showroom owners in the city are happy with the good business on Dhanteras.
Some dealers also reported high sales than previous year’s Dhanteras and many have enough post Diwali booking. Luxury car brands like Mercedes Benz, Jaguar Land Rover, BMW and Audi have achieved an impressive sales figure in the last 10 days.
Sanjay Maheshwari, CEO of Saga Automotives, Skoda Auto, said, “We sold 30 units in all segments on Dhanteras. The last 10 days have been very impressive for the automobile sector.” The Skoda cars sold were Rapid, Fabia and Octavia to name a few.
With the advent of festive season, which began with Navratri and will continue till the New Year, the automobile dealers are hoping to benefit even in this recessionary market. They said sales figures have always been positive in the festive season.
Sai Girdhar Alhuwalia, dealer and owner of Chevrolet, Renault and Hyosung car showrooms, is upbeat about his sales figures and said, “Our showrooms in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Sikar and Jhunjhunu have sold 410 units of Chevrolet in the last 30 days, including a sale of 150 units on Dhanteras alone.”
Himanshu Aggarwal, regional head, Mahindra & Mahindra, claimed that he had sold 1,200 units in all segments by the end of Friday. He said approximately 55% of the total units like Bolero and Scorpio sold were for personal use and rest 45% were for commercial purposes.
Dealers, especially those who deal in small cars, are expecting this scenario to continue as they see farmers, who have harvested a bumper crop and yet to be sold in the market, as potential customers.
The dealers opined that the automobile market is no longer volatile and customers conduct thorough research before buying a car. Maheshwari attributed the slowdown in the automobile sector to the intensive research on different products by customers.
Cars like Honda Accord, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Outlander, Skoda Laura and Mahindra Scorpio saw takers from the city and nearby areas during this festive season.
