The BCCI cancelled its working committee meeting, scheduled on August 28 to discuss the fate of CSK and RR in IPL.

The BCCI on Saturday moved the Supreme Court seeking clarification whether its former president N Srinivasan can attend its meetings following claims his company India Cement has sold off stakes in Chennai Super Kings.

Srinivasan has sold stakes to wriggle out of the conflict of interest case which surfaced as he owned stakes in an IPL team despite holding position in the BCCI.

The BCCI cancelled its working committee meeting, scheduled on August 28 to discuss the fate of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in IPL, as Srinivasan insisted on attending it as a representative of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. The cricket board cited lack of legal clarity on whether the former BCCI chief could be part of its meetings.

India Cements Ltd in its board meeting had decided to de merge CSK from ICL (India Cements Ltd) and form a new company called CSK Cricketers Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ICL. This, Srinivasan maintained, ends speculations over his conflict of interest. But the BCCI wants legal clarity and has asked the SC to issue appropriate directives or send the matter to the Lodha panel the three-member committee which had slapped a two-year suspension on CSK and RR due to its officials being involved in betting during IPL 2013
