Just 10 days prior to the release of his next big film, Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara (OUATIMD), Akshay Kumar visited the Ajmer Sharif on Monday (August 5). While other stars have made multiple trips to the holy shrine in the past, this was Akshay’s first visit to the place.

Akshay, who was touched by the experience, says, “I am happy to have visited the shrine and I hope to go back there again soon. It was my first time at the revered Ajmer Sharif. Embracing divinity and praying for the well-being of my dear ones and my film was a beautiful experience.”

Akshay was accompanied by the entire team of OUATIMD, from producer Ekta Kapoor to co-star Sonakshi Sinha. “They flew to Jaipur airport and then went to Kishangarh in a chopper. That place has a small airstrip and is close to the dargah of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti,” says a source adding, “There was a huge crowd. People and the media had gathered to catch a glimpse of the stars. But thanks to the heavy security arrangement, they all managed to get inside without any trouble.”

Ekta and Sonakshi were in a salwar kameez while Akshay wore a Pathani kurta pyjama. The source adds, “Akshay rarely goes to religious places before the release of his films. All of them paid obeisance and flew back to Jaipur. There they attended a promotional event at a mall in Jaipur.” The team will now start a multi-city tour in India and go abroad to promote the film after attending their iftar party today evening (August 6) in Mumbai.
