With state board exams beginning March 7, preparations for their smooth conduction are in full swing. Taking lessons from the past, the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) authorities are leaving no stone unturned to meet any eventuality.
According to an RBSE official, more than 20 lakh students will appear for Board exams. In order to manage such a large number of examinees, the Board has set up 5,100 examination centres in state; of these, 332 new ones. A total of 60 flying squads have been constituted, apart from teams of the education department, to check cheating incidents.
Question papers and other materials will reach the concerned centres and police stations by Tuesday. Also, the Board has changed school timings for other classes during the exams. It had planned to install CCTV cameras at some centres. However, the idea was dropped later.
“About 4,500 securitymen will be deployed during the exams to ensure safety. Over 20 lakh students will take the exams at 5,100 centres. Around 60 flying squads have been formed for various parts of state,” said MR Sharma, secretary, RBSE.
Notably, in academic years 2011 and 2012, RBSE officials had caught 200 and 252 students respectively for copying. It had disqualified 650 teachers caught helping students in copying.
This year, RBSE has marked around half a dozen districts as sensitive areas. These are Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Barmer, Karauli, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur and Sikar.
In Jaipur, total 586 centres have been set up. Around 12,000 officials will be involved in the examination procedure in Jaipur, an official said.
